Carmela is a graduate of Parsons School of Design where she studied Integrated Design with a concentration in Social Practice.

In her own words social practice is creating something that goes beyond oneself by merging of art/design, community and socially inclined initiatives into an interactive system where participation comes from within a community as equally as it does outside.

Her influences range from artists such as Wangechi Mutu and Aubrey Beardsley to issues concerning environmental injustice, social justice, and marginalized communities. Carmela envisions a career that puts an emphasis on moral and ethical practices where she can use hard and soft skills towards progressive community and environmental development.
